2018 Has Begun!

2018 Has Begun!

With Summer now a distant memory and the seasons changing to Autumn, the 2018 Academic year is now fully underway, and we here at St Barnabas College have been busy over the past few months.

Ending 2017

On the 15th December last year, the St Barnabas College community and dignitaries gathered together in St Peter’s Cathedral for a 6:00pm service to celebrate the contribution of the Rev’d Dr Matthew Anstey, our Principal for eight years.

Matthew, reflecting on his journey and its many highlights, left us with the thought that:

“… the path unfolding before each of us, and indeed before St Barnabas College, is held surely in God’s hands and cherished dearly in God’s Gentle heart.”

It was a splendid evening, with many poignant moments as people farewelled Matthew. With the attendance of well over 100 people, the service was a testament to   the profound influence that Matthew has had on St Barnabas College and its community.

Beginning 2018

At the turn of the year The Rev’d Dr Don Owers and the Rev’d Dr Cathy Thomson moved into their new respective roles as Acting Principal and Acting Director of Learning and Teaching. Preparation for Commencement, and for the start of the academic year were a high priority.

The Commencement service, hosted in St Peter’s Cathedral on the 21st February, was an opportunity to acknowledge the previous year’s graduates, and the recipients of academic awards. Followed by light refreshments across the road at the college, it was, overall, a hugely successful night.
