Using the library collections

The best way for you to find items in the library is to search the catalogue.
Check the item’s availability, and  note the location and classification number before searching the shelves.

As a general rule, you will find items belonging to one of the following collections:

General

This collection contains most of the library’s items which are available for loan. You will also find books which previously belonged to the Reference Collection and are now marked as Library Use only.

Reserve – Library Use Only

Prescribed textbooks for each course can be found in the Reserve collection. These items can only be used in the library and need to be available for all students to access.

Reserve – 7 Day Loan

You can find this collection near the Reserve-Library Use Only items.  For fair access, these high demand items must be returned by the due date and cannot be renewed.

Q (Quarto) Large Books

The Quarto collection contains large books shelved separately from the General collection. Quarto items can be borrowed with the same loan period as General collection items.

Compactus

The Compactus is located near the library printer and contains extra resources which you can borrow.
