Biography

Nic is a recent newcomer to Australia, having arrived in late-2015 with his family (Julia, Chaplain to St Peter’s Woodlands School, Glenelg and part-time associate priest at Glenelg Parish, and twins Hannah & Joshua currently in Year 12).  He has been an Anglican priest for 30 years, mostly in the Church of the Province of Southern Africa, in parishes in Johannesburg and near the east-coast city of Durban.  More recently he spent 18 months in Paphos, Cyprus, in the Diocese of Cyprus and The Gulf, as priest to 3 Anglican churches on the west of the divided island-nation.

Nic’s faith background was as a Roman Catholic with a strong influence from the Charismatic Renewal, but after time in Pentecostal churches as well, was drawn to the Anglican Church in his 20s and from there, to Ordination. After completing a 4-year Honours Degree in Social Work and Psychology, he spent 3 years at the major residential Anglican Theological College in South Africa.

His interests include current affairs and social analysis, social justice and being a “Barnabas”, an encourager and mentor to others especially in areas of ministry, lay and ordained.  He has hiked extensively in South Africa, and enjoys long walks, a good shiraz or a wooded chardonnay, and theological issues often grouped as “Practical Theology”.

Nic has recently been appointed as Director of Discernment and Formation for the Diocese of Adelaide, alongside his ongoing role as Parish Priest for Coromandel Valley.
